Christmas Fun and Loving at the Edwards Barn!!!
It was that time of year again! All the animals gathered together to play and love on all our wonderful volunteers this Christmas! The barn was full of Holiday spirit as the animals ran around and entertained all of our warm hearted friends. Here are some of the pictures that we took from that snowy Christmas morning so you can get a feel of how happy the animals were to play!

Nugget, Lambert, and the Dixie Chicks
Winter is here and so are some new Holiday animals! Lambert and the Dixie chicks pictured below are all socializing and getting into the Holiday spirit as they meet the rest of the gang! They have been welcomed with open arms and are fitting in great with the other friends. As for Nugget the Rooster, he is fluffing up and getting ready for the Holiday season with his black and white coat... He's been a nice addition to the farm and we are looking forward to spending the Holidays with the new additions!

A Big Thanks to Oppenheimer
Thank You So Much Oppenheimer Funds for getting involved and meeting the animals! We enjoyed having you and appreciate the mention in your ad! The trees you planted will last a lifetime and we could not be more excited to witness them grow!
"On December 10, 2015 the 5280 Investments team volunteered
at the Edwards Foundation for Rescued Animals.
This is a delightful family owned large animal no-kill shelter located
in Parker. They care for all kinds of
large animals including horses, goats, llamas, donkeys and a bunch of chickens,
ducks and turkeys. The animals are all
very gentle and friendly. You can tell
that they are well cared for!
The team planted about 15 trees that had been donated by a
local nursery, painted barn doors, repaired stall doors, and various other
chores. We made a small dent in the “to
do” list, but got the top priorities done!
And of course we took some time to just play with the animals! We were very lucky to have the weather
cooperate for us on this mid-December Colorado day!"

We are keeping in touch and happy that Midori will have a warm place with lots of love just in time for the Holidays! With the new year just around the corner, Kim is excited to start off 2016 knowing Midori now has a place to call home. Midori will have a wonderful companion to share the Holidays with, a male cat who already loves Kim's home.

Oppenheimer - A Wonderful Workday!
Like busy ants getting ready for the winter, the folks from
OppeneheimerFunds came for two days to work for the animals. They cleaned the barn, painted the benches, and
worked on the fences. They decorated the
tack door, cleaned up the dogs’ floor, picked up lots of poo, and loved on the
animals! It was a grand success! We hope they will all come back and thank them!

Dr Dale here again :(
Emanuel and his mom Allison came around to help with evening chores. They agreed to stay and help with the vet call. Dr. Dale was called out Friday evening and then called out again because Gambler is still not doing well. Here Emanuel demonstrates how not to feed out hay:) as we wait for the vet.
Dr Dale checks Gambler for gut sounds and hears some.
Next he checks the hay. Pretty stemy and may be hard to digest.
Then he gives Lynda a refresher course on how to find the under jaw pulse for heart rate.
With Emanuel's help he gives a muscle relaxer shot to calm the spasms and a dose of Ban-amine for pain
Next Dr. Rice puts a tube to Gamblers stomach so he can fill him with a gallon of mineral oil. If there is any remaining blockage causing pain, this should help pass it. No food until oil is passed.
Finally Dr Dale takes a blood sample, worms him and tests his feet for soreness. We are checking everything. Even checked his poop again for signs of sand. There was none. Gambler walked over the hay truck hitch when hay was delivered. He also fell in the aisle way several weeks ago. Dr Dale is so good and Gambler is such a trooper that I am sure he will be feeling well soon.
