Saying Goodbye to a Dear Friend

This week we said goodbye to one of our dearest friends, Goldie, our beloved, 33 year old Golden Palomino Quarter Horse, who had been with the rescue for many years.
The right words are never easy to find in these situations. Some of our volunteers are still in shock even though we all knew that at her advanced age, her days were numbered.
Goldie was a kind and gentle horse, and brought light into the lives of all who met her. She lived a long and healthy life, and we know in our hearts that she is in a better place.

We will always remember Goldie for the wonderful spirit she was. The image of her grazing in the fields, working with our volunteers, her kindness towards younger kids, will never leave our memories. Animals and humans alike will miss her always.

Happy Trails Goldie, may you rest in peace.

Animals grieve as do humans. Dealer was by her side to the end to comfort her and so that he would understand her leaving us.
Thank you Dr. White from Littleton Equine Hospital for being here for her.
Richard was one of her good friends and always had time to love on her.
Rain, sleet, or snow Volunteers like Siobhan came to give her plenty of TLC.
Volunteer Siobhan got Goldie a beautiful halter to takeher on walks.
Anna is a senior who came around often during these uncertain to care for and love Goldie
